BNP secretary general, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, while commenting about the released audio clip by two party leaders discussing the attack on BNP campaign in Rajshahi, said: “in this era of high tech gadgets, even a dialogue between myself and the PM can be manufactured.”
Based on the audio clip, a BNP leader was arrested in Rajshahi on Sunday (July 22).
The veteran BNP leader made the comments at a press conference held at a discussion at the National Press Club on Tuesday afternoon.
We are living under a fascist government, he added.
He also condemned the attack on Mahmudur Rahman.
“The ruling party has done everything to kill democracy,” accused Alamgir.
The government is terrified; they have hoodwinked the masses but the people are not fools, cautioned the BNP leader.
He also said that there is a simmering resentment among the people.
“The high court is conniving with the government in keeping Khaleda Zia behind bars; how can we trust the judiciary which is complicit?”
