The leaderships of India and Bangladesh share a cordial relation but that's not case for the people of the two countries, says Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader.
"The people of Bangladesh maintain an aura of negativity over the deals of Feni and Teesta rivers as well as the NRC [in Assam]. It's about time to focus on the relation between the common people of the two nations," he said on Monday (Nov 4).
His remarks came during a felicitation ceremony organized by the SAARC Cultural Society at a Dhaka restaurant.
A delegation of the Society, including Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly Rebati Mohan Das felicitated Quader, the MP from Lalmonirhat-3 on the ceremony.
Claiming the crisis of separatists as Anup Chetia has been dealt with, Quader said, “India and Bangladesh have come closer after the issue of separatists has been dealt with."
On the NRC issue in northeastern Assam, Quader said that Bangladeshis are at somewhat unease over it.
Tripura Speaker Rebati said, “The bridge over Feni River has boosted ties between Bangladesh and northeastern India.”
