Around 32 Chhatra Dal activists, are observing a sit-in hunger strike, demanding posts for the married members in its new council.

The student wing of BNP began the strike on the ground floor of BNP's Naya Paltan head office on Tuesday (Oct 30) noon.

Former Liberation War affairs assistant secretary Md Nizamuddin said, "When the new Chhatra Dal council was formed, the top authorities demanded that the president and the general secretary be unmarried."

"There were no guidelines to ensure the position of the married activities - who have been working in Chhatra Dal for a long time," he said.

He added, "We demand that all our sacrifices and hard-work throughout the years are acknowledged by the committee and we are given of posts in council for that, irrespective of our marital status."
