Khaleda Zia's sister Selima Islam was among the family members who met her at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital on Friday (Oct 25).
A three-time prime minister, Khaleda is undergoing treatment at the hospital under the supervision of the jail authorities since April this year.
Selima claimed Khaleda is 'severely ill' and need to be sent abroad for treatment.

"She can't eat, sit and move. She lies in bed all day. She is severely ill. She wants to go abroad to receive advanced medical treatment," Selima said.

Family members – Selima, her younger brother Shamim Eskandar, his wife Kaniz Fatema, their two sons, and Shahina Khan, sister of Tarique Rahman's wife Zubaida Rahman – went to meet Khaleda around 3:20pm, and left at 4:30pm, said BNP chairperson’s media wing member Shamsuddin Didar.
Quoting Selima, Didar said, "Khaleda Zia told her that she had the right to go abroad for getting treatment at her family's cost after obtaining bail through the legal process."
The BNP chief also told Selima to take steps for the legal process, Didar said.
