Swechchhasebak League General Secretary and Barishal-4 lawmaker Pankaj Nath has been barred from carrying out his duties for the upcoming national council scheduled for Nov 16.
Awami League chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave the orders, two ruling party top leaders wishing to remain anonymous wishing to remain anonymous told Bangla Tribune on Thursday (Oct 24).
The move comes after the ruling party affiliate president Molla Md Abu Kawsar was removed from his post on Oct 23.
However, Pankaj claimed that he hasn’t received any such instructions and is yet to speak to Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
Swechchhasebak League held two councils in 2003 and 2012 since its establishment in 1994. Pankaj was elected general secretary during both councils.
