BNP has declared a programme to protest the death of four persons in Bhola.
Party standing committee member Khondokar Mosharraf Hossain said: “At the initiative of BNP, protest rallies will be held on Oct 23 at all thanas and upazilas.”
He declared the programme on Monday (Oct 21) noon.
Accusing the administration of trying to give a sectarian flavor to the protest of the masses in Bhola, he added: “It often appears that the government is speaking on behalf of the killing.”
Calling the clash between police and the masses pre-planned, he observed: “It seems from the police explanation that they were aware of the incident before it happened.”
“The protesters did not resort to vandalism or disorderly behaviour but the police were intolerant and the government is alarmed at the prospect of losing power.”
BNP standing committee members, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Iqbal Hassan Tuku and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi were present on the occasion.
