On Oct 13, BNP together with Dr Kama Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal and Nagorik Oikya launched the new alliance to press for their seven-point demand and 11 visions, including holding the next election under a non-party administration. The decision was taken at a meeting of the alliance's steering committee at its convener Dr Kamal Hossain’s Motijheel chamber on Thursday (Oct 10).
Gonoforum Executive President Subrata Chowdhury said that the alliance's leaders and activists will gather in front of the National Press Club on the day.
"We'll take out a civic mourning rally towards the Central Shaheed Minar," he added.
Abrar, 21, a resident of Sher-e-Bangla Hall of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), was allegedly beaten to death by some Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders and activists of the university unit following his Facebook post opposing some deals with India.
