Abrar murder: 11 BUET BCL members expelled

CCTV footage Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has permanently expelled 11 leaders and activists of its Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) unit including the general secretary, Hasan Russell, for their alleged involvement in killing Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of the university.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the central executive body following the findings of a BCL probe committee formed over the recent unexpected incident of the killing, said a statement jointly signed by Acting President Al Nahean Khan Joy and Acting General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee on Monday (Oct 7).
The expelled leaders include eight office bearers and three executive members of BUET unit of the BCL, the student wing of ruling Awami League.
The office bearers are BUET BCL unit vice president Muhtasim Fuad, organizing secretary Mehedi Hasan Robin, information and research affairs secretary Anick Sarker, sports secretary Meftahul Islam Zion, literature secretary Moniruzzaman Monir, deputy social service secretary Ifti Mosharraf Sakal, and deputy office secretary Mujtoba Rafid.

It also expelled BUET unit BCL members Muntasir Al Jamie, Ehtemamul Rabbi Tanim and Mujahidur Rahman.

Earlier, BCL formed a two-member probe body to look into the death of Abrar.
