The BNP has called on the prime minister to remain cautious over agreeing to proposals with India, prioritising Bangladesh’s interest during her visit in November.
“Don’t agree to proposals that’s detrimental to the interest of the people,” said the party’s policymaking National Standing Committee member Khandaker Mosharraf.
His call came during a human chain demonstration organised by Jatiyatabadi Textile Engineer’s Association of Bangladesh on Wednesday (Oct 2).
Citing the prime minister’s remark after her last visit, where she said that Bangladesh has given India enough, he said, “Don’t do any such thing that harms the interest of the people.”
On the ongoing crackdown on graft, Mosharraf said, “Today the prime minister said that the raids against corruption, extortion and casinos to avoid a situation like 1/11. Our question is why are you creating a situation for something like 1/11.”
