The BNP has announced a 12-day program demanding the release of its incarcerated chief Khaleda Zia.
The party affiliates will be organising human chain demonstrations from Sept 15 to Sept 28, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced at the party headquarters on Thursday (Sept 12).
“The government is working to make sure there remains no opposition party in Bangladesh,” he said.
He added that the incumbent regime has made the state institutions partisan and the courts no longer serve justice. “BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been imprisoned solely out of political vendetta.”
Fakhrul said that its chief was being denied the bail she deserves and the party is adopting programs in several phases demanding her release.
