Bangladesh Chhatra league`s new President Rejwanul Haque Choudhury Shovon and General Secretary Golam Rabbani greet Prime Minister and Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina with a bouquet before a meeting at Ganabhaban on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 Focus BanglaPrime Minister and Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina has ordered the dissolution of the central committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the party’s student affiliate.

Her order came Saturday (Sept 7) during the joint meeting of the party’s local government and parliamentary nomination board, according to people familiar with the matter.

Party insiders told Bangla Tribune that the order was given due to a series of controversial acts by BCL president and general secretary and allegations of inefficiency.

Based on information received from intelligence agencies, Hasina told the meeting that there were many allegations against the BCL leaders, one of which is that they do not get up from bed until late in the afternoon.

At the meet, indignation was expressed over the failure to give a committee at Jagannath University and Eden College, accusations of unethical monetary transactions over the formation of the committee at Kushtia Islami University and giving posts to married plus BNP-Jamaat candidates, sources said.

The issue of leaving out many people who had done a lot for the party also came up, they said. The leaders also talked about the BCL president being married along with allegations of moral lapse against the president and general secretary.

After ten minute discussions on the issue, Hasina ordered the BCL central committee to be dissolved, according to the sources.
