Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad is being able to open his eyes but his health condition remains unchanged, said his younger brother and acting party chief GM Quader.
“I went to visit Ershad this morning [Wednesday]. He opened his eyes but according to the doctors his condition is still unchanged,” he told the media on Wednesday (Jul 3).
Quader said that Ershad’s lung infection and his urinary issues due to kidney problems are improving. “He, however, isn’t out of danger.”
Saying that the former military dictator was still on life support, he added, “He’s being given oxygen every two hours and then kept under pressure for another two. It’s slowly being reduced,” he said.
The 89-year-old former envoy to the prime minister was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital Intensive Care Unit on Jun 26.
His health was improving on Saturday (Jun 29) but it worsened on Sunday (Jun 30).
