Selima, Tuku in BNP standing committee

Combination of photos shows  Selima Rahman and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud TukuBangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has inducted Selima Rahman and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku into its National Standing Committee -- highest policymaking forum of the party.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announced at a media briefing at the party's Nayapaltan office on Wednesday (Jun 19).
Rahman and Tuku, who served as the party's vice-chairmen, will fulfil the standing committee posts that remained vacant following the death of several party leaders including ASM Hannan Shah, MK Anwar and Tariqul Islam.
They (Rahman and Tuku) "have been inducted to the standing committee to fill two vacancies," Rizvi said.
However, three more posts still remain vacant in the party's standing committee.
BNP last held its council on Mar 19, 2016, after which, the party announced the name of its standing committee members and both Selima and Tuku also become vice president.
Tenure of BNP' council has already expired but it leaders are yet to announce a new date for next council.
