Senior BNP leader Moudud AhmadThe BNP will wage political movement like what the country witnessed in the 1990s in a bid to free its Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail, Moudud Ahmed said.
“We needs to change our movement strategy and enforce it so that we can make her (Khaleda) free,” said the senior BNP leader.
Speaking at a media briefing at the party office on Wednesday (Jun 20), Moudud said, “The government did not allow BNP on the streets and we want to tell them that we will respond to you (the government) harshly.
“(You the government) wait a while, political upsurges ousted autocratic governments in 1969 and 1990 and this kind of movement will happen in Bangladesh again,” said the BNP Standing Committee Member.
Citing the overthrow of autocratic government had never been possible through democratic and peaceful movement, Moudud said, “Proper movement will be enforced on the perfect time to hold a free and fair election.”
Restoring democracy requires formation of a national unity and election under a non-partisan government, he said.
