Tanjim Ahmad Sohel Taj has claimed of conspiracies against him and his family by a “vested quarter within the Awami League”.
In a Facebook post, the son of Bangladesh’s first Prime Minister and Bangabandhu’s long-time trusted deputy Tajuddin Ahmed claimed of ‘conspiracies to eliminate’ his family ‘from politics’.
“It’s unfortunate but true that a vested quarter in Awami League wants to eliminate Tajuddin’s family from the Awami League politics,” reads the post on his verified page.
Sharing a photograph of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Tajuddin, Sohel Taj called upon the people of Gazipur-4 (Kapasia constituency) not to indulge in evil politics.
On May 31 Facebook post, Sohel Taj said he was considering of some initiatives, especially for the youth of the country.
"After a lot of thinking, I have decided on something and will unveil it idea after the Eid," read the post, which was shared by nearly 3,500 times.
Sohel Taj was elected the MP from Gazipur- 4 on the Awami League’s ticket in the 2008 national election.
He served as the state minister for home under the then-Hasina administration but stepped down six months later before eventually resigning as a lawmaker in April 2012, when announced retiring from politics.
