BNP Secretary General, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, held at least two meetings with party’s Acting Vice-chairman Tareque Rahman in United Kingdom.
Tarique called Fakhrul to London on an urgent basis. According to party sources, two meetings were held at Tarique Rahman's newly rented house at Kingston area of London. In the closed-door meetings, two leaders discussed various organisational issues, including legal process of freeing Khaleda Zia from jail, the next parliamentary election and the ongoing political situation in the country.
Sources said, Tarique called Fakhrul to London on June 2, as their previous phone conversations were tapped and leaked by government agencies. Several BNP sources related to Tarique said the acting vice-chairman was summoned on June 2, to discuss organizational issues.

President of BNP in the UK, MA Malek told Bangla Tribune yesterday, "I met Mirza Fakhrul at a hotel on Friday night; He is supposed to attend an iftar party to be organized by UK BNP, where Tarique Rahman is scheduled to be present."

General Secretary of UK BNP, Kaiser M Ahmed, said, "Mirza Fakhrul is going back to the country soon, although the date is not yet known."
