Khaleda suffered a mild stroke: Doctors

BNP Chairperson Khaleda ZiaJailed BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has suffered a ‘mild stroke’, according to her personal physicians who visited her at prison on Saturday.
“Khaleda fainted around 1pm on Jun 5. She regained consciousness within 5 to 7 minutes, but she failed recall anything during that time. As far as we understand she has suffered a mild stroke and there’s a possibility of stroke in future,” FM Siddique, a medicine professor at the Dhaka Medical College, told the media.
Siddique and three others— neurosurgeon Wahidur Rahman, ophthalmologist Professor Adbul Quddus and Mamun Rahman examined the former prime minister on Saturday at the old jailhouse in Dhaka.
They entered the premises on Old Dhaka’s Nazimuddin Road just after 4 pm.

Medicine specialist Siddique said they recommend transferring Khaleda Zia to the United Hospital in the capital.
“We have filed a four-page report with the prison authorities after examining her. We referred her to the United Hospital as they have the facility of a special MRI. We fear she might suffer a major stroke if not transferred to the hospital,” he said.
