Considering the overall situation of the country, BNP has given emergency instructions to all parties of the 20-party alliance. ‘Political tensions, the current situation of the country and the government have started to break the alliance again’ - on the basis of such information, it has been instructed to be more cautious on behalf of alliance leader Khaleda Zia. Top sources of BNP and alliance have confirmed this information.
The sources said Khaleda Zia's special direction was to be formally delivered at the meeting of the 20-party alliance on October 10 evening. Although the meeting was postponed as Jamaat's top six leaders were arrested on Monday night and some senior leaders of two other parties were arrested on Tuesday morning. In such circumstances, the words of Khaleda Zia will be delivered to the party's allies leaders.
However, none of the alliance partners agreed to comment on this issue. Bangladesh NAP Chairman Jebel Rahman Gani told the Bangla Tribune, ‘The meeting was called but I do not know what was called for.’
Bangladesh Kallyan Party president major general (Retd) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim told the Bangla Tribune, 'Normally we do not want to know before the meeting, what will be discussed. When we meet, we discuss all.’
Alliance Coordinator Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir called an alliance meeting on Tuesday evening. However, due to the arrest of top six Jamaat leaders including Maqbool Ahmad and former Labor Party Chairman Mustafizur Rahman Iran and NDP acting secretary general Manjur Hossain Isha, the meeting was canceled.
Meanwhile, the alliance sources informed that a party of the 20-party alliance could leave the alliance; alliance partners of BNP had this sort of information. However, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir did not agree to comment on this issue. But from the last two years, in many meetings, he had been indicating the government’s attempt to disband the 20-party alliance.
In this context, Mustafizur Rahman Iran said, "One of the goals of our alliance to liberate the general people from the autocracy of the ruling government. Since this objective has not been successful yet, so there is a possibility of leaving a party from the alliance.’
A BNP source said, apparently the BNP-alliance was called as a coalition of the movement but in reality, this alliance is a coalition of elections. They are instructed to deliver this message of Khaleda Zia to the other alliance parties.
