BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has demanded sufficient compensation to the victims of Chawkbazar fire that killed nearly 70 people and injured dozens.
“BNP as a party is going through an unfavourable situation. Yet, we will stand by the victims and help them as much as we can,” he told the media after visiting the burn victims at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Friday (Feb 22).
The senior BNP leader blamed the government for not taking any punitive measure.
“The government has no accountability so they are behaving eccentrically,” said Mirza Fakhrul, who is the spokesperson of BNP-led opposition alliance Jatiya Oikya Front.
