BNP leaders and activists have called for adding more impetus to the move demanding release of Khaleda Zia, instead of taking part in elections.
The call was made on Wednesday (Jan 30) at a human chain in front of the National Press Club in the capital, organised to protest a ‘parliament based on sham elections’.
BNP’s sister bodies, including Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal and others are taking part in the human chain.
At the event, BNP leaders claimed that the 11th Parliamentary Election was robbed with votes cast by ruling party activists on the night of Dec 29, the night before the polls.
BNP cannot go to any election because there cannot be a free, fair election under Sheikh Hasina, said BNP adviser Abdus Salam.
BNP top leaders, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Dr Khondokar Mosharraf Hossain, Dr Moin Khan and others were present at the human chain.
