The 11th parliamentary election has been accepted around the world, says ruling Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader before blaming the BNP for plotting to make it controversial.
“The whole world accepted the (Dec 30) election. Even US President Donald Trump has congratulated the new government wishing its continuation,” he said on Monday (Jan 28).
Speaking at a views-exchange meeting at his offices, Quader, who is the road and transport minister, said, “How many seats BNP has won doesn’t matter.
“If they come to the House and speak logically the government will accept it,” he assured.
Claiming BNP has backed off from coming to parliament, Quader said, “No one is stopping them. Do we have to make them to join the House? BNP was out of the parliament in the last five years, did that stop anything?”
The senior AL leader, however, made it clear that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s invitation to leaders of political parties, who contested the election, was “not meant for dialogue.”
