BNP Joint-Secratary General Moazzem Hossain Alal briefing the media on Sunday (Dec 30).The BNP has alleged that the ruling Awami League activists have driven out ‘paddy sheaf’ polling agents in 221 constituencies.
“AL activists have stuffed ballot boxes beforehand in more than 150 constituencies,” BNP Joint-General Secretary Moazzem Hossain Alal told the media on Sunday (Dec 30).
“We have already said that a fair election was impossible under the incumbent government and this election has proved it,” he added.
He said that their polling agents in all the centres in 221 constituencies were beaten and forced out and some were not even allowed to enter the premises.
Alal said that BNP’s policymaking National Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan wrote to the EC saying, “Ballot papers were stuffed beforehand on behalf of ‘boat’ in more than 150 constituencies.”
The letter read that BNP and Oikya Front leaders were not being allowed to set up election camps in several constituencies and the polling agents were not being allowed in the centres.
BNP said that the police and administration watched silently as the ruling party activists snatched ballot papers from BNP agents and attacked them.
