Awami League Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman addressing the media on Saturday (Dec 29).The ruling Awami League has said that it will gracefully accept the outcome of the 11th National Elections to be held on Dec 30.
“We are hopeful that the Bengali masses will vote for us and help the Awmai League candidates emerge victorious,” the party’s Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman told the media on Saturday (Dec 29).
“But even if they don’t vote for us, we will accept the outcome,” he added.
He said that several international media outlets including New York Times and Hindustan Times have published surveys that show that people will once more vote for Sheikh Hasina.
Slamming the opposition, he said that the people have boycotted Jatiya Oikya Front-BNP-Jamaat due to their support of corruption, terrorism and resistance of the spirit of liberation.“People have turned away from Jamaat-BNP.”
Rahman said that Jamaat-BNP-Oikya Front have failed to carry out their polls campaign because they are “politically bankrupt.”
Claiming that BNP activists have turned their faces on the Khaleda Zia-Tarique Rahman leadership, Rahman said that they have resorted to violence and spreading rumours in the absence of leadership.
He called on his own party leaders to remain vigilant till the very end of the polls and ensure that the voters do go the polling centres and make sure that they do not fall prey to any negative publicity.
Rahman claimed that the atmosphere regarding the upcoming polls was the most stable and violence free in the history of Bangladesh’s election history.
“We have witnessed the most free, fair and peaceful polls atmosphere compared to the other elections,” he said, adding, that the Dec 30 polls will decide whether the dreams of the martyrs will be materialised or whether ant-liberation forces will once more rule the country.
