Police pays 'courtesy call' at Dr Kamal Hossain's office in Motijheel on Wednesday (Dec 26).A delegation of top police officials have met Jatiya Oikya Front convener Dr Kamal Hossain, which they claimed was a ‘courtesy call’.
The law enforcing officials went to Dr Kamal’s Motijheel office on Wednesday (Dec 26) and carried out a meeting for over one hour.
Although Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner was not present at the meeting, Motihjeel Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anwar Hossain, Ramna zone DC Kamruzzaman and Motijheel zone Additional Deputy Commissioner Shibli Noman attended the meeting along with Motijheel traffic office.
“Since Dr Kamal’s office is in our area, we went to talk about his security,” ADC Noman told Bangla Tribune. He added that they basically talked about his security.
“It was a regular courtesy call, nothing else,” he said adding that the DMP commissioner was absent as “Something else came up.”
However, a police official wishing to remain anonymous said that the DMP commissioner wanted to visit Dr Kamal to find out whether he had any complaints about his security but since the meeting has been publicized too much, the top police official backed out.
The Ganoforum chief and Oikya Front leaders recently made the headlines for storming out of the Election Commission (EC) citing inappropriate behavior on Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda’s part.
