Awami League Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak said, “It’s ridiculous to hear about pledges to prevent corruption, money laundering from a party which can amend party organogram overnight to make a corrupt person like Tarique Rahman vice chairman.
He made the comments on Wednesday (Dec 19), at a press conference held at the party’s political office in Dhanmondi.
“BNP, on one hand promises to prevent graft and money laundering but through nomination trade has sent crores overseas illegally.”
This has become evident from the statements made by those who were not given nomination, Nanak added.
Calling the BNP-Jamaat regime as champion in corruption for five times in a row, he said, “People of this country know that if BNP comes to power then Bangladesh will be plunged into darkness once more.”
An anti-independence ideology will take hold and the dream of a peaceful Bangladesh will be hampered, he added.
“Our great leader, Sheikh Hasina wants to use the skills, ability and talent of the youth in Bangladesh to turn the country into a developed state,” he said, adding, “While BNP’s manifesto has triggered despondence, the AL one has created ripples of hope among the people.”
