The supporters BNP leader Ahsanul Haque Milon have locked the gate of the party headquarters in the capital’s Naya Paltan, leaving few senior party leaders stuck inside.
The supporters have locked down the entrance of the office, demanding that Milon be declared the final candidate the Chandpur-1 constituency.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and few other leaders who were already in the office are stuck inside.Milon, a former state minister during BNP administration, was an aspirant for the Chandpur-1 constituency. However, this time the party’s Executive Committee member and BNP’s Malaysia unit President Mosharraf Hossain has been picked to contest the polls in that seat.
“There is no hope of salvaging that seat without Milon,” said Jahangir Alam Faruki, Chandpur’s Kochua Upazila BNP unit Organizing Secretary.
He added that whereas Milon has maintained liaisons with BNP leaders in Chandpur, the current candidate has no popularity with the common people.
