AL’s 240 candidates are final though there may be one or two changes; we gave nomination to candidates who have the capacity to win, said Quader after handing out final letters of nomination.
Of the allies, Workers Party will compete in 5 seats, JSD in three, Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh in 3, Tariqat in 2, JP-Monju in 2 and JSD Ambia in one seat.
Saying that allies have been given 55-60 seats, he said that Jatiya Party will compete in 40-42 seats with the symbol of the plough.
Allies can compete in more seats if they want under their symbol, he commented.
He also said that on Saturday (Dec 8), a full list of the nominations will be sent to the election commission.
After AL started to distribute nomination papers on Nov 9, 4023 persons submitted forms for 33 seats.
Of the 281 candidates of AL, nominations of 3 were cancelled, BNP had 555 candidates, of which, 141 had their nominations cancelled.
For Jatiya Party, 233 submitted papers and 195 got approval while nomination for 38 were cancelled.
The last date for withdrawal of nomination is Dec 9 with voting slated for Dec 30.
