BNP`s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. File PhotoThe ruling party has diabolical plans for the upcoming polls, alleged BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
“The Election Commission (EC) is fulfilling the government’s agendas, sometimes openly and sometimes under the table,” he told the media at the party headquarters on Saturday (Nov 24).
He further alleged that Awami League (AL) is still maintaining the administrative authority and the EC led by Chief Election Commission (CEC) is doing everything to make sure that they retain office.
“Controversial election officers must be removed from important posts,” demanded Rizvi.
He claimed that secret meetings are constantly ongoing between the police and administrative officers.
“The police and administration are conspiring to make sure that AL comes to power,” he said.
The senior BNP leader claimed that on Nov 20, a secret meeting took place at a conference room in Officer’s Club where the PM’s Secretary Sajjadul Hassan, Public Administration Secretary Foyez Ahmed, EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed and many others top officials and members of various law enforcing agencies including DMP were present.
“Plans to rig the polls were reviewed at the two-and-half-hour meeting,” Rizvi claimed before quoting ‘police sources’ that AL can secure confirmed win in 33 seats while 60-65 seats will be contested. They won’t get any more seats.”
“They have decided not to co-operate with Jatiya Oikya Front, increase the frequency of mass arrest and create an environment so dire that the alliance is forced to back track from polls,” said Rizvi.
