Tarique joins aspirants’ interview on video call

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman joined interviews of the party’s ticket seekers in the upcoming polls over video conference from London.

The nomination board of BNP started interviewing the polls aspirants from 9am Sunday at the BNP chief’s Gulshan Office.

The party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committe members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Jamiruddin Sircar, Mahbubur Rahman, Rafiqul Islam Mia, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdul Moeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury formed  the interview panel.

The interviews started with aspirants from Rangpur Division while nomination seekers from Rajshahi will be interviewed later in the day.

The aspirants who were finished with their interviews told Bangla Tribune that Tarique basically asked why they should be nominated and what their chances of winning are in their desired constituency.

They revealed that Fakhrul asked them whether they will be willing to work for the party even if they don’t receive a nomination and Tarique called for them to support whoever the party nominates.

Tarique is currently a fugitive, living in London for a decade and was sentenced to 17 years in prison over two graft cases. He has also received a life sentence over the Aug 21 grenade attack.
