Bangladeshi Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina. REUTERS/FILE PHOTOFeeling that winning in the 11th national election will be challenging, Awami League (AL) president Sheikh Hasina has called on all AL workers to unite and work together.
She made the observation while meeting AL nomination seekers at a programme on Nov 14.
Addressing workers and activists, the Hasina, said, “It’s wrong to assume that we will come to power a third time because I feel there is a conspiracy afoot.”
But we will try our best to resist any evil design, she added.
“Therefore, I ask everyone to be united, otherwise any untoward incident may happen.”
Sheikh Hasina expressed her desire to celebrate 50 years of the country’s independence by remaining in power.
And to stay in power, we have to win seats and get mandate from the masses, she added.
We have taken a long term plan to develop the country and want to see Bangladesh free of hunger and poverty by 2021, observed Hasina adding, “If AL comes to power, then by 2041, Bangladesh will be the most developed state in South Asia.”
You have to make people understand that if AL comes to power then the flow of development will go on, said Sheikh Hasina and added, “The base of the organisation will have to be strengthened.”
I have devoted my life to the country and the party; at this time of the national election, my expectation is that everyone in AL will remain united, she said.
