Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh chief AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury has written to chief election commissioner urging to reschedule the general election slated for Dec 23.
In a letter handed to Election Commission officials on Sunday, he called for rescheduling the voting for Dec 30.
“It seems to us that the time for filing nominations is not adequate.
“It will be tough (for the political parties) to scrutinise and interviewing those seeking the ticket by the deadlines,” reads the letter by Badruddoza, who heads a coalition styled the Jukto Front.
In a televised address to the nation on Thursday, Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda has set Dec 23 as election day.
The deadline for filing the nominations ends on Nov 19 and the last day to withdraw from the race has been fixed Nov 29.
The Bikalpa Dhara president called for rescheduling the deadlines to Nov 26 and Dec 5 respectively.
