BNP has demonstrated black-flag procession in protest of its Acting Chief Tarique Rahman’s conviction in the Aug 21 grenade attack.
The procession led by BNP’s Senior Joint General Secretary Rizvi Ahmed was taken out at the capital’s Kalyanpur Shyamoli area at 7:30am (Oct 21).
Leaders and members of the party’s various wings including Chatra Dal, Jubo dal took part in the pre-scheduled demonstration that demanded Tarique’s conviction to be scrapped.
On Oct 10, a Dhaka court convicted Tarique Rahman in the 14-year-old incident. He has been given life in prison along with 18 others.
Former BNP ministers, Lutfozzaman Babar and Abdus Salam Pintu are among the 19 people who have been awarded the death penalty.
