The leaders of the new anti-government alliance are ‘politically characterless’, says Awami League leader Hasan Mahmud.
“Although they talk about raising a corruption-free society, they themselves formed an alliance with corrupts. This proved that they are politically characterless,” he said.
His remarks came while addressing a discussion in Dhaka on Saturday.
On Oct 13, the BNP, Gano Forum chief Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, Mahmudur Rahman Manna’s Naogorik Oikya and ASM Adbur Rab’s Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) launched a new coalition styled, ‘Jatiya Oikto Front’.
“Although Dr Kamal Hossain preaches about raising graft-free society, but he took the leadership of a part, whose acting chairman is a person like Tarique Rahman,” said Mahmud, who serves as the publicity and publication secretary of the ruling party/
“Another leader of the coalition is Barrister Mainul Hosein, who recently harassed a female journalist on live TV. In reality, Dr Kamal Hossain, Mahmudur Rahman Manna and Mainul Hosein are politically characterless,” he said.
“Look at yourself first, before looking on to others. In reality, you all are politically characterless,” added Mahmud.
