Senior BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was addresing media briefing. FILE PHOTOAwami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader’s comment about the recent BNP public rally received scathing criticism from the party’s Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
“Obaidul Quader said that BNP’s popularity was declining, despite the huge number of people who turned up at the rally,” asserted Rizvi on Monday (Oct 1) while addressing the media at the party’s headquarters.
“AL members are making baseless comments because they feel threatened by our popularity,” he added.
The senior BNP leader also accused the ruling party activists of trying to hamper the rally by stopping all public transport.
“AL activists and police have been guarding the entrance of the venue all day and a lot of our members have been beaten up,” he alleged.
He further accused the government of arresting innocent BNP leaders and activists who had come to Dhaka to attend the rally and demanded their release.
