The announcement by its spokesperson Mohammad Nasim came on Saturday during a workers’ rally in Dhaka.
“Grand rallies have been scheduled for Oct 9 in Rajshahi, the next day in Natore and in Khulna Oct 13. A similar rally will be held in Dhaka any time the same month,” the Awami League Presidium member told the rally.

The ruling party-led coalition organised the rally protesting what it said “BNP’s spontaneous falsehood and conspiracy” ahead of the upcoming general elections.

Leaders and activists of Awami League, its different front and associate bodies and its alliance partners from different parts of the capital attended the programme.

They formed processions carrying banners, placards and festoons and chanting slogans in favour of the government as they joined the programme.

Earlier, following a meeting of the 14-party alliance on Sept 24, the AL announced that it would hold the rally on Saturday.

The next day, BNP announced to hold a public rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on the same day instead of Sept 27.

The BNP, however, could not secure police clearance for that day instead it was permitted for a rally on Sunday.
AL Presidium member Matia Chowdhury, Workers’ Party of Bangladesh chief Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Party (JP) chief Anwar Hossain Monju, JaSad faction chief Sharif Nurul Ambia, Tarikwat Federation Chairman Nojibul Bashar Maijbhandari are among other attending the rally at the Mahanagar Natya Mancha auditorium in the city’s Gulistan.
