A political meeting held at the home of Badruddoza Chowdhury, president of Bikalpadhara, featured some intriguing twists. Sources say that B Chowdhury and his son, Mahi B Chowdhury, asked the people present at the meeting to keep their phones in a separate room after the meeting had progressed for some-time.
Later, resuming for a short time, the meeting was suspended. JSD leader, Tania Rab, said: “I have an invitation to attend to and, therefore, the meeting was cut short.”However, a rumour is swirling that while the meeting was going on, the phone of one person was connected to a line in London, which was informed to Mahi B Chowdhury, who then informed his father.
But no leading leader of the joint front wanted to make any comment on the allegation of a clandestine phone link to the UK.
With the rumour of the UK phone connection, speculation is going on about the possible identity of the person on the other side.At Badruddoza Chowdhury’s Baridhara residence, JSD president, ASM Rab, general secretary Abdul Malek Ratan, Nagorik Oikko’s Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, Bikolpo Dhara’s joint secretary general, Mahi B Chowdhury, organisational secretary, barrister Omar Faruk, Nagorik Oikko’s Dr Zahed ur Rahman, member secretary of Jatiya Oikko Parishad, ABM Mostafa Amin and others were present.
BNP’s representative, party vice chairman Iqbal Hassan Mahmud, who was present at the meeting, said: “the process which began through the rally held on Sept 22 will move forward.”
