Describing BNP’s move to brief the United Nations on Bangladesh’s political situations a ‘narrow-minded approach’, Awami League (AL) leader Obaidul Quader has said it clearly shows that it has no respect for the country and its peopel.
On Sept 13, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met with UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Miroslav Jenča at the UN headquarters in New York.
During the meeting, Mirza Fakhrul brought allegations of supersession and oppression against the ruling party.
Referring to Mirza Fakhrul’s meeting, AL Secretary General Quader said “Why would you demean (the people of Bangladesh) to outsiders?”
Speaking at a programme in the city on Saturday (Sept 15), the road transport minister described the BNP as “politically bankrupt”.
He accused BNP of disparaging the country and complaining before the United Nations after losing public trust.
“If you have any complaint then share it with public,” said Quader before adding. “No foreign power will restore you to power.”
“Our leader Sheikh Hasina has said, the Awami League will be in power, only if the people vote for it. Otherwise, the AL has no desire to cling on to power,” said the senior AL leader.
