BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is doing fine and expected to back in his regular activities by Wednesday, say family members and party leaders.
On Monday, he was taken to the United Hospital in Dhaka after he complained of chest pains. He was under the doctor’s observation and on Tuesday an angiogram was done.
“Everything is fine. He will be released from the hospital after a six-hour observation. He will back to work tomorrow,” his broth Mirza Faisal Amin, a member of the BNP central committee, told Bangla Tribune on Tuesday.
The senior BNP leader will be on rest, said BNP chairperson’s media wing member Shairul Kabir Khan adding: “We hope him to be back in political activities within a day or two.”
As soon as the news of Mirza Fakhrul spread on Monday, several senior BNP leaders gathered at the United Hospital in Dhaka’s Gulshan.
Krishak Sramik Janata League President Kader Siddiqui went to the hospital in the afternoon.
Later in the day, a group of senior BNP leaders visited Mirza Fakhrul in the hospital.
“His condition is stable and it’s expected that he will get well soon,” Organising Secretary Shakhawat Hossain said on Monday after emerging from the hospital.
