BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the biggest challenge for their party is to remove the monster government to restore democracy.
He made the comment to media after paying respect at the grave of BNP’s founder Ziaur Rahman on the occasion of the party’s 40th founding anniversary.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “Today is the 40th founding anniversary of our party but, it’s no happy occasion for us. We have come to pay respect to our party’s late founder with a heavy heart, because, our chairperson, the uncompromising leader Khaleda Zia is in jail. Acting Chairman is also in exile due to false charges slapped on him. We are paying respect here today without them.”
Alleging Awami League government as a fascist one, the BNP leader said, “They are anti-democracy and anti-society government who has snatched all democratic rights of the people. They have destroyed all constitutional institutions. This illegal government is clinging to power and robbing people of all their rights.”
“So, our vow in today’s anniversary is to remove this monster government.”
Standing Committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Vice-Chairman Ruhul Alam Chowdhury, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, Ahmed Azam Khan, Chairperson's adviser Amanullah Aman, were present in the meeting among others.
