Tofail Ahmed, FILE PHOTOBNP will face existential crisis if they don’t take part in the upcoming polls, says Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed.
He told journalists on Sunday, “Election will be held according to the constitution like other countries and BNP will be in existential crisis if they don’t take part in it.”
The senior Awami League leader also said, “The incumbent government will act as the interim administration during the election. Parliament won’t be dissolved but the session called in September is likely to be the last session.”
“Election commission will oversee the polls based on the Constitution,” he added,
Responding to a query, he said, “Only four months left to the election. Those who will take part in it are already on the pitch. There’s nothing we can do if someone decides to stay out. We, the Awami League are on the field.”
Ahmed said, “I have travelled the rural areas. People want to see Sheikh Hasina in power again, because she has taken Bangladesh to newer heights. Development is going on all over the country.”
