The High Court has issued a contempt rule against the home secretary and the chiefs of police and road transport authority for not installing speed guns on roads in line with a previous court order.
The home secretary, inspector general of police and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority chairman has been given four weeks to respond.
The bench of Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Mohammad Ali issued the rule on Tuesday after a petition filed by Dhaka resident Nasir Uddin Khan.
In 2009, the High Court instructed concerned authorities to take steps to install speed guns on the roads by June 30, 2010 to in a bid to curb road accidents.
