FILE PHOTO: Director of Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control, and Research (IEDCR) Meerjady Sabrina Flora addressing the media on Friday (Mar 13).A Bangladeshi, who has recovered fully from the coronavirus infection, has returned home, said the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR).
IEDCR Director Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora said this at a media briefing at the DGHS head office auditorium in Dhaka on Friday (Mar 13).
The individual is among two who made full recovery from the virus infection.
Another individual has not been released upon the family's request, she said.
As other members of the person's family are in home quarantine, so returning home now may cause harm to the individual, the IEDCR director added.
On Mar 8, Bangladesh confirmed its first three patients of Covid-19. The IEDCR on Thursday said two consecutive tests found that the duo, among the three, was virus-free.
During the press briefing on Friday, Flora said the IEDCR tested 24 samples in the last 24 hours for Covid-19, and found no new patients. Since January 21, the institute has tested a total of 187 samples.
The deadly coronavirus has claimed nearly 5,000 lives and infected more than 130,000 people across the world so far.
