High Court has banned the publication and sale of two books, Nanir Bani by Diyarshi Arag and The Arefin for hurting religious and personal freedom. Court has asked the DG of Bangla Academy to remove the books from the Ekushey Book Fair.
At the same time the home secretary, DC’s of Narayanganj and Dhaka were asked to take necessary steps.
A High Court bench of justices M Enayetur Rahim and Mostafizur Rahman spontaneously gave the order on Wednesday (Feb 26).
At the court lawyer Azhar Ullah Bhuiyan underlined the objectionable parts in the books.
