A Dhaka court has placed Shamima Nur Papiya, expelled general secretary of Jubo Mohila League’s Narsingdi District unit, on 15-day remand in total in three cases against her for supplying counterfeit banknotes and drugs and her involvement with other illicit activities.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Masud-Ur-Rahman placed Papiya, her husband and three of their associates on 5 day remand each in a case filed against them with Airport police station for supplying counterfeit banknotes.

The court passed the order after Airport police station Inspector (investigation) Kaikobad Kazi, also the investigation officer of the case, placed the four before the court on Monday.
Papia and her husband Sumon have made the fortunes through “trading in drugs and arms, extortion, recruitment fraud and other sorts of embezzlement”, the Rapid Action Battalion said on Sunday following their arrests the previous day.
