The VCs of public universities except Dhaka University have taken a decision to take a unified admission test to ease the pressure and burden on students and their guardians. But in that meet, the VC of Dhaka University, Dr Akhtaruzzaman was absent.
There is skepticism if this decision by other universities will be accepted by DU or not.
The decision to take a unified admission exam was taken at the 262nd meet of the Bangladesh University Council on Tuesday (Feb 11).
A press notice from the council stated that from 2020-2021 academic year, the unified admission exam will be held.
Students from arts, science and commerce at the HSC level will take part in exams on separate questions. The same rule will be followed for admission to Honours level colleges.
The notice said that after HSC results, applications will be asked online and admission will be completed by November.
On the issue VC of Dhaka University said, "We will take a final decision at the academic council.
Dhaka University plus the students union DUCSU had opposed the unified admission exam earlier."
