Naogaon Central Girls High SchoolNaogaon Central Girls High School teacher Belal Hossain was accused of harassing a student over phone in 2018.

However, instead of being fired, he is still teaching at the school while the girl who complained was handed a transfer certificate.

Belal Hossain told Bangla Tribune that he called the girl late at night and was suspended after her parents complained.

The school’s Principal Md Mahtaf Hossain said, “Belal Hossain was suspended over the complaints but the management committee later let him off the hook.”

On the student being given a transfer certificate, he said that it was done “as per the guardian’s wish.”

The school’s management committee chief Md Jahurul said that the girl’s parents settled the matter.

According to sources, Belal was suspended at the interference of the district administration but the school authorities let him off.

However, the girl’s parents complained to the Human Rights Commission who wrote to the education ministry to take steps against the teacher.

On Wednesday (Jan 29), the ministry’s Secondary and Higher Education Division wrote to the Directorate General asking why steps shouldn’t be taken against the teacher. Deputy Secretary Anwarul Haque has been ordered to file a report with his observation within seven days.
