Dhaka University expels 67 students

The Dhaka University has expelled 63 students for admission fraud while four others were rusticated after being arrested with drugs and firearms at a residential hall.
Nine more have been suspended for securing admission in illegal way and cheating in the entrance test.
The decisions came for a Syndicate meeting on Tuesday (Jan 28) chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman, the university said in a statement.
Another 13 students have suspended for being involved mugging.
It was also decided that the suspended students would served with notices asking to explain within seven working days why they will not be expelled.
Two other students have been suspended from taking part in academic activities for six months for assaulting journalists on the campus on Oct 25.
The statement said a teacher has been relieved of administrative and academic duties on allegations plagiarism in his PhD thesis. An inquiry has been opened into the matter.
