Mirpur slum fire victim dies at DMCH

She died while receiving treatment at the burn unit of the hospital around 8 am on Saturday (Jan 25). The deceased Parvin, 35, sustained around 90% burns on her body, said DMCH police outpost Inspector Bachchu Miah.

Hundreds of residents of the Chalantika Jhilpar slum in the capital’s Mirpur 7 area lost their homes and all their possessions in the devastating fire that broke out on early Friday.

Friday’s incident is reminiscent of the horrific fire that destroyed several thousand homes in the same slum on August 16, 2019.
