Mobile banking to be watched during SSC exams

Mobile Banking, Representative Photo.The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has instructed all mobile financial service (MFS) and payment services provider (PSP) companies to cooperate with law enforcers to monitor transactions made through their services during Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations.
In a circular issued on Thursday (Jan 23), the central bank said intelligence agencies will watch mobile banking transactions from a week before the exams till the last test.
A Bangladesh Bank spokesperson said that all transactions made through mobiles will be monitored from now on during public exams administered by the education ministry.
“Smaller transactions [between Tk 200 and Tk 2,000] will be especially monitored,” said its Executive Director Serajul Islam.
According to the circular, MFSs and PSPs have to report any kind of suspicious activities by users to law enforcement agencies.
The school-leaving SSC and equivalent exams are set to start from Feb 3.
As many as 2,047,771 students will sit for the tests at 3,512 centres across Bangladesh.
