On Sunday (Jan 19), Supreme Court lawyer Shishir Monir filed the plea with the court which challenged Sections 25, 28, 29 and 31.
They are Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ)Secretary General Mohammad Abdullah, lawyers Md Asad Uddin, Md Asaduzzaman, Md Zobaidur Rahman, Md Mohiuddin Mollam and Md Mujahidul Islam, and Dhaka University teachers Md Ismail, Md Kamruzzaman and Md Rafiqul Islam.
The petition argued that the four sections contradict with the Constitution's Section 39 which ensures right to freedom of expression. It also said the definition of offences in the four sections were ambiguous, which leaves the room of abuse of the law.
